I love receiving "detalles"!

What Spanish souvenir would you bring back to your family or friends?

Hello Jill,

Thank you for your question and we're sorry for the late answer.

The 'll' sound actually varies from region to region, so both sounds are standard in different cities. We normally do recommend for students to pronounce it as 'y,' because it's simpler and it's easier to understand for Spanish learners. [j] would be the phonetic transcription.

We hope it helps.

Cheers,

Lena

As this is European Spanish - should not the 'll' sounds be like the English 'y' rather than the English 'j'? It seems that the Mexican pronunciation is used for some letters, in the European Spanish lessons
