Eric: Expressions Used as Adverbs
Eric: Hi everyone, and welcome back to SpanishPod101.com. I'm Eric.

Eric: This is Must-Know Spanish Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 22. In this lesson you'll learn Expressions Used as Adverbs.
Eric: These are adverbial expressions that will become really useful in your daily life and improve your sentences.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Eric: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Anna: cada dos por tres
Anna: de sol a sol
Anna: de cajón
Anna: estar en el quinto pino
Eric: Anna, what's our first expression?
Anna: cada dos por tres
Eric: literally meaning "every two for three." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "every now and then."
Anna: [SLOW] cada dos por tres [NORMAL] cada dos por tres
Eric: Listeners, please repeat.

Eric: Use this slang expression when an action is done repeatedly and becomes tiring.
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.

Eric: literally meaning "from sun to sun." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "from dawn until dusk."

Eric: Use this slang expression when you do something all day long, almost without stopping. Usually it's used for actions like working or training.

Eric: "He works from sunrise to sunset without taking a break."

Eric: literally meaning "of drawer." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "obvious."

Eric: Use this slang expression when talking about something that's obvious.
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.

Eric: "I knew that you could do it, obviously."
Anna: [NORMAL] Sabía de cajón que lo ibas a conseguir.
Eric: Okay, what's the last expression?
Anna: estar en el quinto pino
Eric: literally meaning "be in the fifth pine." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "to be very far away."

Eric: Use this slang expression when you want to emphasize that something is really far from somewhere.
