Eric: Expressions to Make Too Much of Anything
Eric: Hi everyone, and welcome back to SpanishPod101.com. I'm Eric.

Eric: This is Must-Know Spanish Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 11. In this lesson you'll learn Expressions to Make Too Much of Anything.
Eric: Spanish people love to exaggerate, so get ready to hear these types of expressions everywhere.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Eric: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Anna: recibir una buena leche
Anna: estar colado por
Anna: estar como una cabra
Anna: hacer el vago
Eric: Anna, what's our first expression?
Anna: recibir una buena leche
Eric: literally meaning "get a good milk." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "get a good blow, punch, slap...."
Anna: [SLOW] recibir una buena leche [NORMAL] recibir una buena leche
Eric: Listeners, please repeat.
Anna: recibir una buena leche

Eric: Use this slang expression when somebody receives a strong blow, punch or slap from somebody or something, like bumping into an object.
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.
Anna: [NORMAL] Se dio una buena leche con la mesa. [SLOW] Se dio una buena leche con la mesa.
Eric: "He hit himself on the table."
Anna: [NORMAL] Se dio una buena leche con la mesa.
Eric: Okay, what's the next expression?
Anna: estar colado por
Eric: literally meaning "be strained for." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "be in love with."
Anna: [SLOW] estar colado por [NORMAL] estar colado por

Eric: Use this slang expression when it's clear that somebody likes or is in love with someone.
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.

Eric: "Miguel likes Inés."
Anna: [NORMAL] Miguel está colado por Inés.
Eric: Okay, what's our next expression?
Anna: estar como una cabra
Eric: literally meaning "to be like a goat." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be crazy, to be mad."
Anna: [SLOW] estar como una cabra [NORMAL] estar como una cabra

Eric: Use this slang expression when you want to refer to someone who is acting in an unusual manner.
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.
Anna: [NORMAL] Mi vecino pasea desnudo por la calle, está como una cabra. [SLOW] Mi vecino pasea desnudo por la calle, está como una cabra.
Eric: "My neighbor walks down the street naked. He's insane."
Anna: [NORMAL] Mi vecino pasea desnudo por la calle, está como una cabra.
Eric: Okay, what's the last expression?
Anna: hacer el vago
Eric: literally meaning "do the lazy." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "laze around."
Anna: [SLOW] hacer el vago [NORMAL] hacer el vago

Eric: Use this slang expression when you have not being doing anything productive during the whole day, and somebody asks you what you have done, then you have the perfect answer!
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.
Anna: [NORMAL] Quiero hacer el vago para tomarme un buen descanso. [SLOW] Quiero hacer el vago para tomarme un buen descanso.
Eric: "I don't want to do anything, so I can have a good rest."
Anna: [NORMAL] Quiero hacer el vago para tomarme un buen descanso.
