These three phrases show the degree or the extent to which you like someone or something also.

Okay, so now in this video we're going to clarify, to give you the nuance, the very important difference between these three phrases.

So, why don't we start with “me gustas”?

Okay, “me gustas” is a phrase that is often translated as “I like you”. But when you say “me gustas” or “me gusta”, it indicates that something pleasures you or seems good to you. Okay, let me give you some examples:

Claro que no quiero que cambies, me gustas tal y como eres.

Or the next one:

-Me gustas.

-Oh, tú también me gustas mucho.

-Me gustas.

“Me gusta” is different than “me gustas”. Why? Because “me gusta” is going to indicate that you like an action or that you like a singular thing.

So, for example, you can say “Me gusta correr por las mañanas”.

I like running in the mornings.

Or you can even say “Me gusta la salsa”.

Okay, I like salsa.

So, remember “me gusta” is for a thing or for an action, whereas “me gustas” indicates that you like the person you're speaking with.

Okay, now let's continue with “me encanta”.

So, “me encanta” is one step above “me gustas”, but one step below “amar”, the verb “amar”.

So, you have “me gustas”, which means “I like you”. Then we have “me gustas mucho”, “I like you a lot”.

And then we have “me encantas”. So, what is “me encantas”?

“Me encantas” is rather for… is very similar to captivate, to fascinate, to enchant, or to be really into someone, okay? So, that's “me encantas”. Let's see one example.

Me encantas, eres guapísima. Podría pasar horas viéndote.

Which can be translated as “you fascinate me, you captivate me, or you enchant me”, or “I'm really into you. I could spend hours looking at you”, okay? So, remember “me encantas”.

Now, this is very important. Remember that “me gusta” can be used for singular things and also for actions. Well, “me encanta” is the same case. You can use it for actions and also for singular things.

For example:

“Me encanta…”

“Me encanta… me encanta despertarme tarde. Me encanta dormir mucho. Me encanta.

Or you can even say:

“Me encanta el frío. Me encanta el frío de Canadá”.

“Me encanta el frío de Canadá”.

The next one is “te deseo”. And, “te deseo”, you say it in a more romantic way. I mean, when you want to be closer.

“Me encantas” is for tú, for the person you are speaking with. Then you have “me gusta”, which can be used for an action or also a singular thing. And finally “me gustas”, which is for the person you are speaking with. That's the difference.
