Both are correct ways to say the same thing.
A casual answer will be "yo soy maestra" since is shorter. And other one would be more common to see written in a piece of paper.

I'd also like to see an answer to Zuzana'a question, as that was my understanding about jobs also.
Is it really correct to use an article like in English before job? A Spanish textbook I study says otherways. It says yo soy maestra. But you use an article only when the noun is followed by an adjective. Yo soy una maestra famosa. Whats correct please. Now I dont know if I can rely on this programme or not. Thanks.
