Skype?

Postby maxiewawa » January 7th, 2008 8:44 am

Hey everyone, what's your Skype?

I'm maxiewawa. One word.

I don't know anyone who speaks Spanish in real life, so all you people in cyberspace are my only hope! iPor favor!

Good idea! I wonder if there are some Spanish speakers that would like to learn English better... Skyping would work well for both English speakers learning Spanish and Spanish Speakers learning English.

Anyone know how to hook this up?

I think it's a good idea. I will definitely keep a lookout. I know there are professional services that offer this, but it sounds like you're thinking of something a little more informal...

What level are you at with your Spanish, Dean? Ojalá sigas disfrutando del curso y que te encontemos un compañero con quien puedas practicar.

Saludos,
Joseph

Just quickly... (I'm in between classes right now)

I found a website called italki, where there is a sizable community set up to do exactly what we are talking about.

As for my Spanish level, I am a newbie/beginner. I went to Ecuador last summer and am enrolled in a first year Spanish course.

Dean,

Great find! Looks like a very, very cool site. Takes social networking into the educational realm; now, that's a good use of technology!

One really interesting feature I saw there is that you can designate your native and target languages. For example, Spanish is my second language and Portuguese, my third. My Portuguese, however, has suffered greatly over the last year, since I have not been practicing. But, there, I would be able to start from Spanish and study Portuguese, and that way I would already me in the mind set of learning a language other than my own.

Again, very cool find. Let us know how it works out for you!

the web site is www.italki.com

That's definitely the feature I've been most excited about. It makes it easy to find someone to talk to where it is mutually beneficial.

I should get your info for italki. Maybe when my spanish gets a bit better we can chat :)
