Jessi: Top 25 Spanish Questions You Need to Know - Lesson 13: Do you have any brothers or sisters? in Spanish (In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Spanish learners, and then learn how to answer it like a native. You'll learn how these key phrases work by breaking them down into each component. Then through repetition and new vocabulary, you'll expand your understanding of the question, its answers, and any variations.)
In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question Do you have any brothers or sisters? In Spanish this is
Javier: ¿Tienes algun hermano o hermana?
The first word in the question is
Javier: tienes
Jessi: meaning you have in English.
Javier: (Slow, by syllable) tienes
Jessi: Listen again and repeat.
Javier: tienes

Jessi: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is

Jessi: meaning any.

Jessi: To use a different phrase, replace sister with brother.

Jessi: Listen to the phrase again, this time with brother

Jessi: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace sister. Say I have a brother.

Now it's time for a quiz. Imagine you are visiting Spain and someone asks you if you have any brothers or sisters. You want to say you have (a) sister. Respond to the question.

Jessi: Now imagine you have (a) brother Respond to the question.
Javier: ¿Tienes algun hermano o hermana? (five seconds) Tengo una hermano.
Jessi: Imagine you have (a) older brother. . Answer the speaker's question.
Javier: ¿Tienes algun hermano o hermana? (five seconds) Tengo una hermano mayor.
Jessi: Imagine you have (a) younger sister. Respond to the question.
Javier: ¿Tienes algun hermano o hermana? (five seconds) Tengo una hermana pequeña.
Jessi: You want to ask someone is they have any brothers or sisters. Ask the question
(5 seconds)
