INTRODUCTION
Michael: Hi everyone, I'm Michael.
Laura: And I'm Laura.
Michael: And welcome to Must-Know Medical Spanish Sentence Structures. Physical Findings.
Michael: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for communicating physical findings.
PATTERN
Michael: First, let’s look at the Spanish sentence for, "The physical exam demonstrates that you have high blood pressure."
Laura: El examen físico demuestra que usted tiene la presión alta.
Laura: [slow] El examen físico demuestra que usted tiene la presión alta.
Michael: The pattern for communicating physical findings has four elements. First, the phrase meaning "the physical exam."
Laura: el examen físico, [slow] el examen físico, [normal] el examen físico.
Michael: Second, the verb "demonstrates."
Laura: demuestra, [slow] demuestra, [normal] demuestra.
Michael: Third, the phrase meaning "that you have."
Laura: que usted tiene, [slow] que usted tiene, [normal] que usted tiene.
Michael: And last, the signs or symptoms that you found during the physical examination — in this case, "high blood pressure."
Laura: la presión alta, [slow] la presión alta, [normal] la presión alta.
Michael: Altogether, we have... "The physical exam demonstrates that you have high blood pressure."

Michael: Here’s another example meaning, "The physical exam demonstrates that you have swelling." First, the phrase meaning "the physical exam."

Michael: Second, the verb "demonstrates."

Michael: Third, the phrase meaning "that you have."
Laura: que usted tiene
Michael: And last, the signs or symptoms that you found during the physical examination — in this case, "swelling."

Michael: “The physical exam demonstrates that you have + [Physical Findings]”.

Michael: Imagine you’re examining a patient and one of the findings you want to report to him is “low blood pressure.”
Michael: Use the sentence pattern to say “The physical exam demonstrates that you have low blood pressure.” “Low blood pressure” is
