Eric: Hi everyone, and welcome back to SpanishPod101.com. I'm Eric.

Eric: This is Must-Know Spanish Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 19. In this lesson you'll learn Expressions Used as Nouns.

SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Eric: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Anna: movida
Anna: viejo
Anna: chollo
Anna: chapuza
Eric: Anna, what's our first expression?
Anna: movida
Eric: literally meaning "a move." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "a commotion, a scene."
Anna: [SLOW] movida [NORMAL] movida

Eric: You can use this slang expression when you describe a messy event, or a fun scene. So it can have a more negative or positive meaning depending on which meaning the speaker wants to use.
Eric : Now let's hear an example sentence.
Anna: [NORMAL] No sé qué pasó pero había una gran movida en la calle. [SLOW] No sé qué pasó pero había una gran movida en la calle.
Eric: "I don't know what happened but there was a big commotion in the street."

Eric: literally meaning "old man." But when it's used as a slang expression it means "dad."
