Gina: Hi everyone, I'm Gina.
Lucia: And I'm Lucia!
Gina: And welcome to Culture Class Essential Spanish Vocabulary, Lesson 7! In this lesson you'll learn five essential words related to food and drink. These are five common Peruvian vegetables, hand picked. You can find a complete list of vocabulary at SpanishPod101.com.

Potato has been the main food in Peru since before the Inca Empire. Almost all dishes in Peru include potato.

Cassava is very traditional to some parts of Peru, especially in the highlands. It’s used in traditional dishes as well as in masato, which is a traditional alcoholic beverage.
