Becky: Welcome to 3-Minute Spanish Season 1, Lesson 19 - Going without. In this lesson, you’ll learn some important negative statements in Spanish.
Becky: Here’s the way to say “I don’t have a pen.” in Spanish.
Laura: [Normal] No tengo pluma.
Becky: First is a word meaning “no”
Laura: [Normal] no [Slow] no
Becky: Next is the word meaning “I have”
Laura: [Normal] tengo [Slow] tengo
Becky: Last is the word meaning “pen”
Laura: [Normal] pluma [Slow] pluma
Becky: Listen again to the phrase meaning “I don’t have a pen.”
Laura: [Slow] No tengo pluma. [Normal] No tengo pluma.
Becky: Ok, now let’s take a look at the way to say “I don’t have time.”
Laura: [Normal] No tengo tiempo.
Becky: First is a word meaning “no”
Laura: [Normal] no [Slow] no
Becky: Next is the word meaning “I have”
Laura: [Normal] tengo [Slow] tengo
Becky: Last is the word meaning “time”
Laura: [Normal] tiempo [Slow] tiempo
Becky: Listen again to the phrase meaning “I don’t have time.”

Becky: Next up is the way to say “I don’t know.”
Laura: [Normal] No sé.
Becky: First is a word meaning “no”

Becky: Last is the word meaning “I know”

Becky: Listen again to the phrase meaning “I don’t know.”

Becky: Finally is a way to say “I don’t understand.”
Laura: [Normal] No entiendo.
Becky: First is a word meaning “no”

Becky: Last is the word meaning “I understand”
Laura: [Normal] entiendo [Slow] entiendo
Becky: Listen again to the phrase meaning “I don’t understand.”

Laura: In every case, you can add an initial no to emphasize that you don’t - For example, No, no entiendo.
