You tell the taxi driver in Spanish, “Hey, we’ll get out here and walk the rest of the way, thanks.” As you pay the driver, your friend leans over and says to you in Spanish, “Where are we?” You respond in Spanish, “The party’s at an apartment that’s just around the corner.” Your friend looks skeptical, but he just says in Spanish, “Okay, I guess you know where you’re going.” As you walk to the corner, you turn and you say in Spanish, “Okay, so this doesn’t look familiar. The building must be up at the next stoplight.” You keep walking past the stoplight, but there’s no apartment building to be found, and there’s certainly no party on the street. Your friend starts to say something, but you interrupt and say in Spanish, “I know, I know. I should have just taken the cab the whole way.”

Come to think of it, it’s been a long year.” Your roommate says, “That’s why it’s important for us to go out tonight and celebrate today. It’s time to live in the present. Forget yesterday, and don’t worry about tomorrow.” You start to say something, but your roommate interrupts and continues in Spanish, “Somewhere in Mexico there’s a margarita with your name on it.” It’s hard to argue with that logic!
