Finding that I was visiting Spain two or three times a year, I thought it would be helpful to learn the language and certainly increase my enjoyment of the culture. Then about twelve years ago I beame ill and had to leave London, England to convalesce in Lincolnshire. The illness lasted longer than I expected and to fill some of my time I started Spanish classes, these unfortunately collapsed after three years. Then I discovered Skype as well as various resources on the internet, and now chat three or four times a week to one friend as an intercambio (he lives in Almería, Spain) and have other occasional intercambios. My Spanish has improved enormously, but was becoming a little unstructured so I was really pleased to find this site, as I can tidy up much of my understanding of Spanish grammar. Speaking to native Spanish speakers in their own language has transformed my understanding of Spanish culture and history. Hopefully, one day, I will be fluent!!
