Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101.com! Join Megan and David for another edition of the Iberian Spanish Series. Today, we’ll hear about the best of the best Spanish “postres” (desserts). This conversation is a really common one, and it gives us a good look at how Iberian Spanish sounds. Today, we’ll learn how to use the verb “encantar”, which is used all the time, in Spain and in most places of the Spanish-speaking world. So, this is one that you don’t want to miss. Also, don’t forget to reference this lesson with Newbie Lesson 14, Peruvian 14, and Costa Rican 14 in order to really broaden your understanding of the Spanish language.

Has anyone ever had “leche frita”? Maybe we can get some tips for the preparation of it from David?

Me encanta mucho la serie castellana.
Pero todavía falta el fichero en pdf. ¿Pueden añadir, por favor?
Gracias.

Should be there. Sorry about that. Thanks for pointing it out!

Hi mariposa!
I’m so glad you are enjoying the Iberian series. I thought I’d post the text of the Quevedo poem that we referenced in the lesson.. Quevedo is a great writer from the Siglo de Oro (Golden Age of the 1600s). Aside from his writing and brilliant intellect, he’s known for his biting (and sometimes quite nasty) sense of humor. This poem is actually a biting burla (mocking) of a contemporary poet, Luis de Góngora, another Spanish Golden Age superstar that he had many poetic “rumbles” with.

Francisco de Quevedo
(1580-1645)
