Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101.com! Today, we have Part IV of the Rise and Shine episodes. Here, Lisy’s joined by Alan La Rue for his first Beginner lesson with the Spod101 team. Lisy and Alan take a look at how to express an action that is going now, even though we don’t know when it began or when/if it has ended. Today’s conversation takes place on the phone, where Jimena in Guayaquil and Félix in Madrid do some catching up. The Beginner Series is designed to prepare our students with the necessary tools to move on to more intermediate studies.

Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101.com! Back to basics. Something we can tell right off the bat is that the Present Tense in Spanish can definitely express more than just the present. Today’s lesson helps us make this distinction. How can the Present Tense be used to express a future action? For example, when we say “hablamos esta noche” (let’s talk tonight), to which tense has the verb “hablamos” been conjugated to? But, what tense does it express? In the paradigms today we have “estar”, “ser” and “ir”, three verbs all very unique and quite a bit different than the regular conjugations. Join us for this brief study of form and function and be sure to reference this lesson with other Verb Conjugation lessons focusing on the Present Tense.
Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101.com! Today, we have the opportunity to get a good dose of listening comprehension in this Mexican Audio Blog, designed in particular for more advanced students, but no doubt useful to anyone who’s still training their ears to the sound of Spanish. The topic today is “una leyenda” (a legend) that’s told by an old, mysterious man in a desolate place of Mexico State, outside of the Distrito Federal. Be sure to check out the Line by Line Audio Transcripts for this lesson in the Learn Center, where you can hear today’s monologue in shorter sections.
