I like basketball myself - but i occasionally like to watch soccer. I cant pick a favorite team - and as for player — seems that Kaka es muy bueno.

¡Hola amigos! Me alegro de teneros de nuevo al otro lado, escuchando este blog sobre España y el español. Hoy os hablaré sobre uno de los eventos deportivos más importantes del año en España: el partido Real Madrid – Barcelona, que se celebrará el domingo 23 de Diciembre.
Como probablemente sepáis, el fútbol es el deporte más popular en España, de forma parecida a Inglaterra, o al fútbol americano en Estados Unidos. Prácticamente todas las ciudades y pueblos tienen un equipo de fútbol, y millones de aficionados cada semana acuden a los estadios o ven los partidos de sus equipos por televisión. Es clásica la queja de las mujeres, que sienten que los domingos sus maridos las abandonan por el fútbol.
El Real Madrid y el Barcelona son los dos equipos más importantes del fútbol español (¡con los presupuestos que tienen no podía ser de otra manera!), los que más trofeos acumulan, y los que más seguidores tienen. Cada vez que ambos equipos se enfrentan, el espectáculo está asegurado, y uno sabe que va a pasar una tarde realmente animada. En partidos tan importantes, los amigos suelen reunirse en alguna casa o bar, para ver el partido juntos, mientras beben y comen algo. Yo, desde luego, quedaré con mis amigos para verlo juntos y pasar una tarde entretenida.
Por hoy nada más; si tenéis la oportunidad, seguid por televisión o en alguna página web el partido… ¡os aseguro que lo disfrutaréis!

¿El fútbol no te gusta tanto, eh? Bueno, a mí más me gusta jugarlo que verlo. But, you’re right, it is hard to pick a favorite team (equipo), isn’t it? I’ve always been a big fan of the Dutch teams, Ajax in particular, because of their unmatched teamwork. I used to admire the way that they could possess the ball for minutes on end while keeping cool and composed. However, since being introduced to the South American style, which consists of more one-on-one play, I’m left wondering which style would be more effective?
¿Qué opinas tú, Carlos? ¿Cuál estilo resulta más efectivo?

¡Hola!
Hmmm, should I say who I THINK is going to win or who I WANT to win? Let’s see… Real Madrid is playing at home, and they are first right now in “la Liga” (the Spanish fútbol league), so, I THINK Real Madrid will win.
And… who do I WANT to win? Well, I won’t say this time… 
¿Os parece si hacemos una porra? What do you think if we start a “porra”? (”porra” = kind of bet where some people give each one a different result for a match. Obviously, that who guesses wins).
My guess: Real Madrid 3 - Barcelona 1

Me parece bien que hagamos una porra, but David, I have to say that your guess seems more like a dream than a well thought out wager! I say, Real Madrid 0 - Barcelona 2… Long live the underdogs!

¡Hola! ¿Qué tal?
Lo que me gustó mucho en este blog fue la utilización del “vosotros”.
Yo inicialmente estudié el español que se habla en Madrid, así que solía utilizarlo. Pero, por vivir en Brasil tengo mucho contacto con los argentinos y otros hispanohablantes.
Así, aprendí a utilizar el “vos” argentino, que tiene una conjugación muy cercana al “vosotros”, pero que no es acepto en muchos países como una forma correcta de hablar, sino particular de los argentinos y los uruguayos.
A pesar de ser brasileño, no me gusta mucho el fútbol, solo en partidos internacionales y durante la Copa del Mundo. Pero también acá las mujeres suelen reclamar que son menos importantes para sus maridos que él fútbol.

I still remember that it was Korea that beat Spain in the 2002 World Championship… 
Well, if you only studied that Spanish, then that’s more than the korean I’ve studied! And now, with those great lessons (www.koreanclass101.com) I have no excuse…
Remember the question Joseph asked in the first comment? Well, I’ll give you a little help. “amague” is the noun, and “amagar” is the verb… And here you have an example of its use: “Llega a la portería, amaga el tiro, pasa y… GOOOOOLLL”
